Trailer-Drop for Upcoming DC “Batman” Comic Book Reunion of Comic Book Titans Jeph Loeb and Jim Lee

rjovine 2 weeks ago

For a change, it really feels like DC Comics is on a roll, doesn’t it? After a hit-or-miss Zack Snyder-led universe of films which felt more like misses than hits, things seem to be coming up daffodils for Superman and Co. with a reinvigorated and rebooted slate of films from James Gun and Peter Safran headed our way faster than a speeding bullet and faster than a locomotive. But what might be the most exciting for longtime fans of the company once known commonly as National Comics Publications is that the vaunted comic book-side of the company is getting some much-needed TLC after an ill-advised company line reboot over a decade back and a perpetual state of confusion among its readers as to what the official continuity is for some of their favorite characters. Recently, the company hit upon a gold vein which they titled ‘All-In’ and ‘Absolute’ and which has formerly AWOL fans returning to the fold in droves to check out what all the excitement is about. A major part of the buzz is the reunion of a key creative team who will be revisiting the sight of one of their greatest victories – a storyline which ran in their Batman comic (yep kiddies, Batman does exist somewhere other than the silver screen) in the early 2000’s from writer Jeph Loeb and artist and DC Big Wheel Jim Lee.

The Hollywood Reporter excited the world of comic book fans by releasing a full-fledged trailer for the upcoming twelve-part Batman sequel H2SH (or, more simply put, ‘Hush 2’) which is set to reunite comic giants Jeph Loeb and Jim Lee. The storyline proper will run in two parts, starting with Batman #158. Wanna check out the trailer for the upcoming comic book event, Bat-fans? Then just jump right over here to view all the amazing things which are set and in store for you!

So, why choose to go the sequel route to this of all stories in the Batman and DC canon? The original Hush storyline is an evergreen on the trade-paper circuit and even has the bragging rights of boasting an animated iteration. It seems like fans just cannot get enough of this classic story. The news of a sequel has done nothing but draw even more excitement among fans as to what else DC might be cooking up for potential ‘sequels’ or ‘follow-ups.’ Could we yet see creators such as Roy Thomas return to pen one last Justice Society/Infinity/All-Star Squadron/Young All-Stars story? Or perhaps scribe James Robinson and illustrator Tony Harris taking another tour of Opal City with a return of their beloved Starman series? Stay tuned, Dear and Constants!

When quizzed about his progress on the penciling of the new Hush storyline, Lee told the Hollywood Reporter that “I’m on the second issue of six. I don’t know if that’s been noted, but it’s a two-part story. There’s an initial six issues that are in the actual Batman continuity starting with Batman No.158, which comes out last week of March. And that runs six issues. It resolves that arc but it ends with a bit of a cliffhanger. And then Jeph and I are coming back for a final six to resolve the Hush saga, which would probably be in 2026.”
