“The Office” Alums Angela Kinsey and Jenna Fischer Dish on Their Set Visit to Upcoming Reboot Series

Stop us if you’ve heard this one before: So, there’s an upcoming revival a-brewing on a major pop culture touchstone which informed and influenced so much of what’s come since…

If the above lines sound familiar, it’s because we’re going through a ‘comfort food’ era in our television and movie watching where the mere hint of seeing the visage of a fan-favorite character in either of those mediums is akin to going home again. Top Gun and Star Wars did it. So did The Karate Kid. Young Guns is saddling up for more shootouts and, over on the television front, old favorites such as Frasier, Punky Brewster, Full House, Dexter, and Malcom in the Middle are also getting in or have gotten in on the action. Yep, the proverbial clock is a-rolling back and that means it was probably only a matter of time before certain properties which seemed to come to natural and organic conclusions were dusted off and put through the ‘Revitalizer.’ One such concept which we’re one-part excited about and one-part very nervous make a comeback? The Office, one of the best British/American series to ever grace a boob tube is barreling towards 2025 relevancy (for whatever that’s worth) with an all-new version currently in the works.

From our Dundies-giving pals over at Variety comes the news today that former Office stars Jenna Fischer (‘Pam Beesly’) and Angela Kinsey (‘Angela Martin’) have popped onto the production site of the forthcoming Greg Daniels-led reboot of The Office (this iteration, titled The Paper, will be set in a dying Midwestern newspaper office and, like the U.S. version, will showcase Daniels as a heavy creative presence in the writer’s room) to check out what the new cast and digs look like, all while catching up with Oscar Núñez who will be reprising his role as accountant Oscar Martinez for the new show.

“Jenna and I stopped by set,” Kinsey dished to the ever-running Today Show about the impromptu visit from her and fellow Office veteran (not to mention partner in the popular podcast Office Ladies) Jenna Fischer. “Greg had invited us, and we showed up, and not only was Oscar there, but our crew, so many of these wonderful people. Because the crew was our extended family, and we’re still really close with them, and that was really moving to see.”

So, what inside dirt did Núñez spill on the upcoming series? Not a whole lot, but what he did say was tantalizing, especially if you’re a fan of this universe: “They’re still editing and stuff,” Núñez revealed during the same Today interview with Kinsey. “More will be revealed! It’s exciting. The experience we went through – not everyone gets to do it.”

Of course, we’ll have to wait and see if Núñez is the only returning cast member from The Office. If we were inclined to play the ponies, we’d wager that one or three more former cast will pop in for a cameo when the time comes!

The Paper has no official release date but keep your eyes on Vents for any and all updates as they roll into us!
