After umpteen seasons of exploring the paranormal underbelly of everything from Skinwalker Canyon to Bobby Mackey’s Music World in the hit reality series Ghost Adventures, it’s perhaps difficult to imagine much that could possibly scare the intrepid ghost hunting crew of Zak Bagans, Nick Groff (who, alas, has since moved on to other ghostly pastures of investigation), Aaron Goodwin, Billy Tolley, and Jay Wasley. However, the day-in-day-out realities of life can sometimes be even more scary than any specter which goes bump in the night, even for the members of this elite paranormal crack team…
Our Double Indemnity pals over at The Wrap are reporting today on a case which may be scarier than any possible ghostly or demonic goings-on in Amityville, NY or Robertson County, TN. This one is ripped right out of an Alfred Hitchcock film, or at the very least a Discovery+ series such as Murderous Spouses, and it involves none other than the goofy and generally likeable Ghost Adventures mainstay Aaron Goodwin.
According to authorities, Aaron’s so-called ‘Better-Half’, Victoria, was involved in a murder-for-hire plot. Her intended victim? None other than Goodwin himself who, up until a few days ago, labored under the delusion that all was right as rain in his barely three-year-old marriage.
Victoria Goodwin was handcuffed and taken into custody last week in Nevada on charges of conspiring to have her famous husband killed. The plot began to unravel when police confiscated the cellular telephone of a prison inmate who had apparently been having an online fling with Goodwin’s wife. How did the two even meet? In a ‘You can’t make this stuff up’ bit of surrealism, it turns out that Aaron’s blushing bride contacted the inmate (who is in a Florida jail for murdering family members) after seeing him in a documentary about incarcerated felons. What authorities found within the labyrinth of that confiscated cell phone shocked them: Texts exchanged between the inmate and Mrs. Goodwin in which they laid out plans to hire a hitman to kill the Ghost Adventures star. One of the messages between the two had Victoria questioning her own morality: “Am I a bad person? Because I chose to end his existence. Not divorce.” (Um, yep, this in fact does officially make you a pretty awful human being…)
Meanwhile, Aaron Goodwin is said to be understandably blindsided and shocked at this turn of events. He’s officially filed for divorce since the news broke of the murder-for-hire plot.
Sticking with his pal to the end, Ghost Adventures head honcho Zak Bagans told media outlet TMZ that during this ‘emotional time’ for Aaron, he’s just trying to be there to show him ‘love and support.’
We’re big fans of Ghost Adventures (particularly the uber-cheesy early seasons) here at Tunes HQ, and we wish Aaron Goodwin godspeed in whatever comes next.
