Today, GRAMMY®-nominated DJ/producer Chris Lake and Brazilian DJ/producer Ragie Ban – known for such hits as “Dangerous,” “Habanera” and David Squillace’s “Let’s Go Deep” (Ragie Ban & Enne Remix) – unveiled the ID fans have been asking for – “Toxic,” out now via Black Book Records/Astralwerks. Listen HERE. Fueled by driving bass and crackling percussion, the infectious track samples Bell Biv DeVoe’s iconic 1990 new jack swing hit “Poison,” which was penned and produced by Dr. Freeze. The buzz about “Toxic” has been growing since Chris started teasing the song during his recent performances at Ocaso Music Festival, Sammy Virji’s L.A. show and Concourse.

Chris Lake says, “Ragie Ban is definitely a talent to be watched and I couldn’t be more excited to have this record out in the world with him.”

“Everything happened in a very natural way,” says Ragie Ban“When I sent the idea of the track to Chris, he liked it a lot and was interested in working on the project together. It was an incredible journey, working on all the details for months until we felt that it was perfect and fit both of our tastes and styles. Working on ‘Toxic’ with Chris was an unforgettable experience because of who he is and the reference he is for everyone! I was happy to see all the reactions that the track was getting without even having a release date. It’s been a surreal experience, and I can’t wait to finally release it to the world.”

Only 22 years of age, Ragie has already made his mark on the Brazilian and international music scenes. With the support of great artists and releases by renowned record companies, his music transcends genres, combining elements of techno, house and other electronic styles.

On April 10, Lake will headline Coachella’s very first “Thursday Night Campgrounds” – a performance just for campers, which will take place on the eve of Weekend 1 of the festival. He’ll kick off a trio of dates in Australia on May 2. In addition to his summer residencies at Las Vegas’ Marquee and the new Palm Tree Beach Club, Lake will be performing at such festivals as Breakaway in Atlanta and Escapade in Ottawa. See below for itinerary. Tickets are available HERE.

Toxic” follows Lake’s Valentine’s Day release, “Ease My Mind” with Abel Balder. Praising its “dreamlike groove,” EDM.com hailed the track as a “subtle stylistic shift for the house music powerhouse, an intimate offering that trades his high-energy club artillery for something more delicate and soul-soothing.

2024 was a massive year for Lake. In addition to dominating at major music festivals, he also staged Black Book On The Pier in Brooklyn and released Black Book ID’s: Chapter 8 (the latest compilation from the pioneering label he founded in 2016). “Summertime Blues,” his collab with Sammy Virji, reigned at #1 on the dance/electronic club charts for several weeks.

As he launched his fall tour, Lake released “in2minds” with Disclosure, which Rolling Stone hailed as one of the “Songs You Need To Know.” GRAMMY.com noted, “The hypnotic, pulsating dance track allows both acts to flex their production chops, culminating in a frenetic explosion of sound and rhythm.” DJ Mag praised “in2minds” as a “fizzing swirl of 808s and choppy drum patterns pivots on a looping, earworm vocal snippet.” We Rave You named “in2minds” as “one of the most exciting collaborations of the year.”

With “Toxic” and his upcoming Coachella “Thursday Night Campgrounds” set, Lake ushers in what promises to be a momentous festival season.
